The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi hosted a wildly popular visit by the Ari Roland Jazz Quartet to Hanoi and Hoa Binh province as part of the U.S. State Department's Rhythm Road program.

During the two-day visit April 27-29, the group held a master class for 50 students at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, and a jazz performance workshop for an over-capacity crowd of 250 students and lecturers at the National University of Arts Education in Hanoi.

Accompanied by guest artist and Vietnamese jazz legend Quyen Van Minh, the quartet also gave a public performance at the Youth Theater in Hanoi. In Hoa Binh Province, the group performed for students and lecturers at the Tay Bac College of Culture and Arts.

Throughout the visit, the quartet showcased masterpieces by American legends like Louis Amstrong and Duke Ellington, but also delighted audiences by playing a number of famous Vietnamese folk songs with a jazz twist
